The Reliability of Classroom Observations by School Personnel
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation introduced the Measures of Effective Teaching (MET) project to develop and test multiple measures of teacher effectiveness. In 2009, through the Intensive Partnerships for Effective Teaching initiative, we invested in three school districts: Hillsborough County Public Schools, Florida; Memphis City Schools, Tennessee; and Pittsburgh Public Schools, Pennsylvania, and a group of charter management organizations (CMOs).
Ever since the Empowering Effective Teachers initiative began in Hillsborough County, Florida, Robert Kriete’s professional learning community has taken a more targeted, and more productive, approach to improving practice.
