Early Progress on Personalized Learning — Survey Results
In partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, RAND Corporation researchers obtained and analyzed data from the 2013-14 school year — including student performance data, teacher logs, student surveys, and teacher surveys — to create a broad picture of schools' efforts to implement personalized learning and understand the outcomes. This companion report to Early Progress: Interim Research on Personalized Learning documents the teacher survey results for the 2013–14 school year.
People don’t usually look to places like Lindsay, California to find examples of extraordinary education. But extraordinary things are happening in this small town in the Central Valley. The students, almost all from low-income families and more than half English language learners, are engaged in their learning and taking ownership of their futures.
Powerful things happen when learning is student-centered. At Joseph Lovett Elementary School in Chicago, administrators have been working hard to create an engaging learning environment for students.
Far too many students don't have access to a high-quality education. This is particularly true for low-income students and students of color, roughly half of today's student population.
