Ensuring Fair and Reliable Measures of Effective Teaching: Culminating Findings from the MET Project’s Three Year Study

With the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Measures of Effective Teaching (MET) project was created to develop and test multiple measures of teacher effectiveness. This a non-technical research brief designed for policymakers and practitioners that summarizes recent analyses from the MET project. The brief addresses identifying effective teaching while accounting for differences among students, combining measures into composites, and assuring reliable classroom observations.
