Student Assessments and the MET Project
In the fall of 2009, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation launched the two-year Measures of Effective Teaching (MET) project to rigorously develop and test multiple measures of teacher effectiveness. This brochure summarizes data on student achievement gains analyzed through the project.
Over the past two years, educators at Windy Hill Middle School in Clermont, Florida have been transforming their teaching, tailoring instruction to students’ individual needs and interests. Students have been using new tools to learn content at their own pace and taking ownership of their learning in the process.
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) represents an unprecedented opportunity for policymakers and education leaders to translate recent research and learnings into equitable access to quality public education.
